About Mathematical Outfitters

Mathematical Outfitters is a privately held company formed in 2005. The company is dedicated to bringing innovative ideas and teaching aids to mathematics classroom at an affordable price.

The company is an outgrowth of an assignment in a methods class for math teachers. The founder, who has over 25 years experience as an engineer and is pursuing a degree in math education was writing a unit plan on polynomials. He thought there must be a better way to communicate with algebra tiles. Being less than thrilled with the concept of algebra tiles for an overhead projector and appalled by the prices being charged for manipulatives, he came up with the idea of fashioning them from magnets.
